More than thirty researchers and lecturers from CBE have been invited to attend a three day long workshop at CBE, Gikondo campus, March 7th to 9th.
They are learning more about e-resources and how to find information related to
their topics and interests, both for research and teaching. Hands-on practice is an important part of the workshop and the participants work in groups with their exercises.
The workshop is facilitated by Muhebera Bizimana, co-facilitated by Alphonse Ngabonzima and Odette Gahongayire is administrating with the help of Marguerite Umubyeyi. We also have a librarian from CST who is participating, Umutesi Annonciatte.
This is the blog of the cooperation between the University of Rwanda (UR) libraries, the Swedish School of Library and Information Science (SSLIS) and the library of the Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) aiming at capacity building for the development of a modern research library at the University of Rwanda. It is carried out within the UR-Sweden Programme for Research, Higher Education and Institutional Advancement.

Evaluation of the cascading workshop in Busogo
The first of the cascading workshops is over. We who facilitated were very impressed by the participants. They worked hard during the three days, asked good questions and were participating actively - just the way you want participants to act. Thank you!
We got very many positive responses to the questions in the evaluation of the workshop.
One of the questions was:
Please specify what you think you will do differently as a result of participating in the event.
And here are some of the answers:

Cascading workshops at UR-CAVM
Time for training - cascading workshop
This week we will have the first in a series of cascading workshops.
Researchers and lecturers in agriculture and related fields have been invited to UR-CAVM to learn more about e-resources and how to find information related to their topics and interests. It's not a question of merely sensitizing the participants, hands-on practice is an important part.

REMINDER Information Literacy Workshops
This is another reminder to participants in the Information Literacy workshops with UR librarians organized in Butare in December 2013 and Kigali in March 2014 and facilitated by Kent Petersson and Anna Stockman.
An aim of the workshops was for the participants to produce an own programme for teaching of information literacy, related to their own contexts and where learning objectives and content are combined.

Reminder: Information literacy workshops - Program for teaching
One of the long term goals for the UR library is to reach out to all UR students before they write their thesis.
This is closely connected to the workshops on Information literacy which Kent Pettersson and I facilitated in 2013 and 2014.
The participants of the workshops were supposed to produce a Program for teaching of Information literacy, related to their own context, where learning objectives and content are combined in a logical way.
Instructions and examples, as well as materials from the workshops, has been sent to the participants and we are now waiting for you all to submit your Programs.
We are looking forward to see your work and we will give you feedback as soon as we can.
