Anti-plagiarism

At the Annual Review Meeting of the UR-Sweden Programme for Research, Higher Education and Institutional Advancement, the question of plagiarism was raised and discussed. The library will have an important role to play in the extensive work to be done to avoid plagiarism at the University of Rwanda (UR).

This question will be addressed at many different levels:

• Creating expertise in plagiarism at the library of UR
• The library team to recommend an online anti-plagiarism tutorial which can be used by both students and staff
• Plagiarism, academic writing and research ethics to be a part of education at all levels
• Policy for dishonesty to be developed for the university
• Plagiarism checking software to be purchased
• Creating awareness among UR staff on the importance of checking for plagiarism
